Promotion
One of the Highest Honour that a member can receive is a promotion.
A promotion means going up in a rank, and becoming a Non-Commissioner Officer (NCO).
There are 3 NCO ranks in the Senior Section of The Boys' Brigade Malaysia:
a) Sergeant (Sgt)
b) Corporal (Cpl)
c) Lance Corporal (L/Cpl)
(from the left) Lance Corporal, Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant
Staff Sergeant (SSgt) and Private (Pte) are not NCO ranks. The Staff Sergeant rank, however, is a part of the Officer Committee, and it is the highest rank a senior section member can receive.
A Sergeant wears a red sash, while a Staff Sergeant wears a blue sash.
The Highest rank in the senior section is Staff Sergeant, followed by:
1. Sergeant
2. Corporal
3. Lance Corporal
4. Private

To get a promotion, members must :
- Be loyal to the Officers and the Company
- Have excellent attendance record
- Be a good example in every way
- Have strong leadership
- Be willing to help the Company when needed
The Captain and officers are responsible for promotions and they are looking out for Members with :
- Excellent attendance record
- Keenness, interest and enthusiasm
- Good conduct and character
- Loyalty to the officers and Company
- A record of good example in every way
